Offset from concert pitch (A 440). Spread: the middle half of the songs, when four or more share the album's pitch. Confidence: how well the notes agree with one grid.

Before we measured, sources said: E♭ Standard, with no pitch given (community).

Slash and Izzy Stradlin kept E♭ Standard for the whole album; Slash says he used about 20 different guitars on the two Illusion records, a Dobro, a banjo and acoustics among them. The Garden is the one song with its own tuning: one acoustic part drops the low string to C♯. Bad Obsession adds a slide part in open G. TuneLit measured the album about 5 ¢ flat (A ≈ 438.7), with no song far enough off to need its own value.

Slash told Guitar Player that his Dobro here is in standard tuning rather than an open slide tuning; the tabs put every part a half step down with the band.

  7. 7. Bad Obsession

    E♭ Standard −5 ¢Measured

    Notes

The riffs are in E♭ Standard. Slash played the slide on a Travis Bean in open G with the low string taken off (G D G B D), a trick he picked up from Keith Richards; one Songsterr transcription writes that part in open G a half step down, C♯ F♯ C♯ F♯ A♯ C♯.

  10. 10. November Rain

    E♭ Standard −5 ¢Measured

    Notes

Slash's solos are in E♭ Standard over Axl Rose's piano. The second most-viewed Songsterr version is rewritten for E Standard and sounds a half step sharp against the record.

    Notes

How to get there from the album's E♭ Standard: String 6 down a whole step (E♭ → C♯); the other strings stay.

Alice Cooper sings with Axl Rose. Wikipedia credits the acoustic guitars to Slash and co-writer West Arkeen. The electric guitars are in E♭ Standard; the dropped low string only matters for the acoustic part, and TuneLit's audio check hears that low C♯ often on the record.

Songsterr writes one acoustic part in Drop C♯ (C♯ G♯ C♯ F♯ A♯ D♯) and every electric part and the bass in E♭ Standard. Only the low string differs.
