About Open G
Strum the open strings and you hear a G major chord: D G D G B D. Open tunings are made for slide guitar and for big ringing chords with few fingers.
Open G is the classic tuning for slide and for rock rhythm guitar; Keith Richards often plays it with String 6 removed.
