About Open E
Strum the open strings and you hear an E major chord: E B E G♯ B E. Open tunings are made for slide guitar and for big ringing chords with few fingers.
Open E has the same shape as Open D, a whole step higher. It is bright and loud for slide guitar, but three strings go up, so it adds tension.
