About Minority
Minority, the lead single from Warning (2000), is an up-tempo song with a big singalong chorus. It is in E Standard on Songsterr's main tab, guitars and bass, and TuneLit's audio check confirms the open low E.
TuneLit measured the Warning CD about 4 cents sharp (A ≈ 441.1), and Minority sits right on that value. Tune sets E Standard 4 cents up, which most ears will hear as concert pitch: a guitar at A 440 will match it well enough for casual playing along. If you play Warning straight through, note that Misery and Waiting, earlier on the album, are a half step down: retune before Minority.
Live versions are a different matter. On the band's 2024 tour, the crew described raising a bass from C♯ to E♭ for Minority, which means the song was played a half step below the record. For a recent concert video, try E♭ Standard; for the album, stay in E. The same 2024 rundown lists a red semi-hollow guitar with a piezo pickup for this song on stage, so the live guitar sound can differ from the record as well.
Tip: For Warning, tune to E Standard at about A 441; for a 2024 concert video, drop every string a half step to E♭.
Step by step
Tune your guitar like the record
- Tap Tune like this: the tuner switches to E Standard, every string +4 ¢, the notes Minority was recorded in.
- Turn String 6 to String 1 until each shows ✓ in tune. Minority sits at concert pitch on the record, so the tuner stays at A 440.
- Then play Minority along with the record: its lowest open note and your String 6 should ring together without a wobble.
Or the other way round
