Offset from concert pitch (A 440). Spread: the middle half of the songs, when four or more share the album's pitch. Confidence: how well the notes agree with one grid.

Before we measured, sources said: E Standard, with no pitch given (community).

The debut, produced by Terry Date, with Stephen Carpenter on a six-string guitar. The main tabs put every song in E Standard, and TuneLit's check from the audio agrees on seven of them. Bored is the exception: its low notes are D and E♭, never E, so it is listed in Drop D, as some tabs have it. The US CD sits about 7 ¢ sharp (A ≈ 441.7) and the European pressing reads the same within a cent; Minus Blindfold sits at concert pitch. The hidden track Fist, after Fireal, is not listed.

    Notes

How to get there from the album's E Standard: String 6 down a whole step (E → D); the other strings stay.

On the CD it reads about 13 ¢ sharp with medium confidence, close enough to keep the album value.

Tabs disagree: the most-viewed Songsterr tab is in E Standard, while a Songsterr version and the best-rated Ultimate Guitar Guitar Pro tab use Drop D. TuneLit's audio of the CD has the bass and guitars on a low D and E♭ and never on a low E, which only Drop D allows.

  2. 2. Minus Blindfold

    Different pitch

    E StandardMeasured

    Notes

Reads at concert pitch (about 3 ¢ flat), about 10 ¢ below the rest of the album.

Every song is tabbed in E Standard on Songsterr and in the best-rated Ultimate Guitar tabs; a few tabs put single songs in Drop D. Stephen Carpenter played a six-string guitar at the time.

    E Standard +7 ¢Measured

    Notes

A popular tab puts it in Drop D, but the CD's lowest notes never reach D: the riff circles F♯ above the low E, which fits E Standard.

  10. 10. Fireal

    E Standard +7 ¢Measured

    Notes

TuneLit's audio check is unsure here: some E♭ and D sound under the riff. The tabs say E Standard.
